Iowa State's stunning come-from-behind win over Iowa last night in Ames ended in horror for one sports reporter, who suffered a compound fracture of his leg when fans stormed the court.

Iowa State took the lead on a basket by Monte Morris with just nine seconds left. It was Iowa State's first lead since the first 90 seconds of the game. A missed shot in the closing seconds by Jarrod Uthoff, who scored 30 points in the first half but only two in the second stanza, left Iowa stunned and Iowa State and their fans euphoric.

Following the game, Iowa State fans rushed the court and that's when the unfortunate injury happened. Des Moines Register sports reporter Randy Peterson "locked legs" with someone and broke both the tibia and fibula in his leg.

WARNING: The video below doesn't show the injury but it does show Peterson, clearly in pain, being assisted.

Thankfully, his surgery reportedly went well. We wish him the best in his recovery.
