There are 'unwritten' rules to social media. Some of us follow them, others don't. But during the holidays, there are some things you may want to take into consideration to avoid offending some of your friends and followers.

  • Get permission before you post pictures of someone's children. If it's a niece of nephew, you're probably fine. Otherwise, it would be wise to politely ask.
  • Don't post mean things about your relatives, especially OLDER ones. We all get fed up with family members from time to time. But vent to a friend, don't blast them in a status update.
  • Don't interrupt a moment just to get a photo. Don't halt a family meal because you want to Instagram a picture of the ham. Being PART of the moment is more important that taking a picture of it.
  • Don't be a grinch about other people's posts. Remember to be generous with your likes, and less cynical during the holidays!
