Way to go, Iowa!

According to a new survey by WalletHub, Iowa has quite a few small cities that are great places to live. Their analysts looked at 1,268 cities across the U.S. with populations between 25,000 and 100,000, and ranked them on 30 different "indicators of livability." Some of those factors include housing costs, income growth, poverty levels, and number of restaurants per capita. Rather than ranking the cities individually, they grouped the cities by percentile. One city in Iowa ranked higher than all the others in the state (in the 98th percentile) and that would be Ankeny. Here are a few others that ranked pretty darn high:

  • West Des Moines (96th percentile)
  • Bettendorf (95th percentile)
  • Urbandale (94th percentile)
  • Marion (93rd percentile)
  • Dubuque (92nd percentile)
