Happy, frigid New Year! It's dangerously cold out there, folks.

The mercury may finally rise above zero in the coming days. However, with record-breaking cold temperatures on Monday, according to CBS2 WeatherFirst, and a Wind Chill Warning through Tuesday at noon, wind chills will continue to stay in the 20 to 40 BELOW ZERO range. With that being the case, we were bound to have some schools announce closings or delays.

Cedar Rapids Public and Parochial Schools were among the first to do so, and will extend Christmas break for the kids for at least one more day. Schools will be closed and classes cancelled in Cedar Rapids Tuesday.
