Scion, the car brand aimed at Generation X, will soon be a thing of the past. Toyota announced Wednesday that they will begin fazing out the Scion brand. 3 models will be re-branded Toyota's for 2017, while other models will stop production.

Twelve years ago, Toyota created the Scion brand to target younger consumers who were turned off by their parents car brands. Sales peaked in 2006 at over 173,000. Sales in 2015 were around 56,000 vehicles, a decline of 68%.

Toyota's decision will have a minimal impact on dealers and owners since they have no stand alone dealerships. Toyota says it will continue to service Scions at their over 1,000 dealerships nationwide.
