Before becoming one of Nashville's hottest songwriters, and then one of Nashville's hottest new male artists, Sam Hunt was a college football quarterback at Middle Tennessee State University and UAB. Recently he revealed that he suffered a pretty bad concussion that temporarily scared him from the game.

Very temporarily. Hunt tells ToC Nights radio host Sam Alex that not being able to answer the trainer's questions despite knowing he knew the answers was frightening.

“It’s one of those situations where you don’t know where you are, where you’re from … simple questions," he says.

The details are still very foggy. The 'Take Your Time' singer couldn't exactly pinpoint when or where it happened, but did remember having a pretty scary 24 hours. Soon he bounced back, and was back under center. After a day or so, he was cleared to play.

2014 was a big year for the Georgia native. His song 'Leave the Night On' topped country airplay charts and his album 'Montevallo' was hailed for being one of the more unique country albums of the last decade. In 2015 he'll be on tour with Lady Antebellum and Hunter Hayes. The Wheels Up Tour begins in February.

Sam Alex is the host of Taste of Country Nights radio, a syndicated night show which airs on more than 60 Townsquare Media Group stations nationwide.
