Growing up, my parents had certain rules of the house that they enforced on a regular basis. Now that I'm the parent, I make the rules of the house. Things like "hang up your coat", or "put your shoes away" are common rules that are violated at the Brainard house. A new survey looked at the most common rules people have in the homes. How many of these sound familiar?

  1. Get your shoes off the couch!
  2. Always flush the toilet
  3. Take your shoes off in the house.
  4. Put dirty clothes in the hamper.
  5. Turn off the lights.
  6. Drain the bathtub when you're done.
  7. Don't leave wet towels on the floor.
  8. No swearing
  9. Turn off the TV when you're done.
  10. Put the toilet seat down.

I'm having flashbacks just like the rest of you. I can actually hear my parents yelling some of those at me. What other rules did you have in your home growing up?
