The trio Rascal Flatts came about totally by accident and they actually paid $5,000 for their name, on a napkin.

Those pieces of Rascal Flatts history and many others came to light when Gary, Jay, and Joe Don recently appeared on NBC from the Fiddle and Steele Guitar Bar in Nashville. It's a bar on the famous Printer's Alley, where Gary and Jay met Joe Don and performed together for the first time. It's also where they're doing a series of concerts prior to Printer's Alley shutting down at the end of 2014.

The full story is here, and the videos below are of their NBC appearance and at bottom, the first song the trio sang together.
