Pope John Paul the Second was one of the most popular and beloved Popes in history. He was even Sainted after his death. So it is a big deal that the official first class relic of Pope John Paul the Second will be making a stop in Iowa.

Iowa has been selected as one of the sites for a worldwide pilgrimage of St. John Paul II's blood. Visiting the relic will be free of charge. Here are the dates and locations where it can be viewed.

In 1979 Pope John Paul visited Des Moines and gave an outdoor mass at Living History Farms. Over 350,000 people attended the event making it the largest crowd in the state's history.
