Rain couldn't dampen the spirits of golf fans Monday as thousands turned out to watch PGA pros and celebrities tee it up at the 5th annual Zach Johnson Foundation Golf Classic at Elmcrest Country Club. Rain delayed the start of the event, and forced golfers to only play 9 holes instead of the scheduled 18. Some were worried that the event might be cancelled. But the rain subsided and the stars came out.

Joining Johnson from the PGA Tour were the likes of Jason Day, Stewart Cink, Davis Love III and of course, golf's newest star Jordan Spieth. Spieth has won both the Master's and the U.S. Open and is a favorite heading into the British Open at St. Andrews in ten days. All the golfers could have taken the day to prepare for another major but instead honored their commitment to Zach Johnson and his foundation. Organizers say around $835,000 was raised for Kids on Course which benefits Grant, Harrison and Van Buren Elementary Schools in Cedar Rapids.
