There are many great fall festivals in Iowa, but I'm a little biased towards one. Pumpkinfest is held the first Saturday in October each year in my hometown of Anamosa. On a crisp fall day, there is no better place to be.

Growers bring in their giant pumpkins to the Lawrence Center to be weighed in. When I say, giant, I mean HUGE pumpkins! At one time, the world's largest pumpkin was weighed in at Pumpkinfest. It's always fun each year to see who grew the biggest, and how close to the record it comes!  They also shut down mainstreet and line it with food and craft vendors. There are games for the kids and a beer garden for adults. It all culminates with the Pumpkinfest parade at 2 pm.

So if you're looking for a great fall weekend, join my family and I at Pumpkinfest! I'll be making announcements in the Lawrence Center from 9 to noon so stop in and say hi! Check out all of the Pumpkinfest activities HERE.
