Police Warn Residents And Businesses About Check Scam In Cedar Rapids Area

Cedar Rapids residents and businesses are being warned by Cedar Rapids Police to be on the lookout for a "business check scam."

CRPD officials say bogus business checks have been popping up and people need to be aware of the situation.

Authorities say the checks will have real or fake businesses/logos and look official, but the routing information is fraudulent.  If you receive a business check from someone you don't know or a business check that you were not expecting - they say to be cautious when cashing the checks.  Check fraud is punishable by fines and/or jail time.
