I'd be willing to bet that quite a few of you didn't realize that the Major League Baseball season is already underway.  Now I know the die-hards and fans of the two teams that played two games in Australia last week are aware.  The rest of us???  We're still waiting for the season to start this weekend.

Why in the world would what is supposed to be the "national past-time" begin the season half-way around the world, with games that take place when the majority of the American audience is sleeping (sans the die-hards who set their alarms for 4am)??  It makes no sense to me at all.  I point my finger at the "ancient regime" who is running the sport and who needs to freshen it up....and QUICKLY.

All of this being said....the Cedar Rapids Kernels have their home opener on April 3rd.  No, they won't be playing it in some abandoned field in western Montana at 9pm Pacific time.  It will be here...at Veterans Memorial Stadium....as it should be.
