Every week we feature an adoptable animal from the Cedar Valley Humane Society. Each pet has their own story, but they all have one thing in common -- they are looking for a new home. If you would like more information about one of our pets of the week, you can call the Cedar Valley Humane Society at (319) 362-6288 or visit them online at CVHumane.org.

Ivy is this week's Pet of the Week. Ivy is a black and white female terrier mix. She is 6 years old and was a stray before she came to the Cedar Valley Humane Society. Check out Ivy in the video below!

We're coming up on back-to-school time and that can be very dangerous to pets. It's important to not leave backpacks or lunch boxes in places that pets can easily get at them because a lot of the items in those can be toxic for your pets. Things like gum, grapes or raisins, onions, and chocolate could make your pet sick or even be potentially fatal. If you think your pet may have eaten something it shouldn't have, call your vet immediately! If you clinic is not open, you can call the Eastern Iowa Veterinary Specialty Center at (319) 841-5161 or the pet poison control hotline (a fee may apply).

Help the Cedar Valley Humane Society to keep doing all the great work they do finding these animals homes by supporting them at their fifth annual Drives for Lives event presented by Skogman Companies. The event is on Thursday, August 13 at Hunters Ridge Golf Course in Marion and is $300 for a group of four, which includes 18 holes of golf, a cart rental, and lunch. Get more info at cvhumane.org.
