And then there were four...

Last night was the semi-finals on NBC's 'The Voice,' which means we lost HALF of the remaining contestants! Four people went home, including my number one favorite. I was so disappointed to see that MaKenzie Thomas didn't make the finals. In my personal opinion, she is the most vocally skilled of any of the contestants this season. She could sing literally ANYTHING and sound flawless. I would've liked to see her make the final four in place of Kirk Jay, who I think has been fairly inconsistent in his performances.

As far as the rest of the finalists go, I wasn't upset or surprised by any of the choices. Country fans really pulled through for the genre, with all three country singers deemed "safe" early on in the evening. I was happy to see Kennedy Holmes saved at the end of the night because she truly is super talented. To be honest with you, though, I really don't care who wins this season. Some seasons I get super invested in the contestants, and other seasons I don't. This just happens to be one of those off-seasons. I think it might be because there are so many really young singers this time around, and as talented as they all are, their voices still have a lot of maturing to do.

Speaking of young singers, I have to give props to Chevel Shepherd for her performance this week. They chose the absolute perfect song for her voice: "Blue" by LeAnn Rimes.

And, per usual, MaKenzie had my favorite performance of the week with her version of "Visions of Love" by Mariah Carey. You can't hear her sing this song and not believe she should've made it to the finale!

And finally, I also really enjoyed the collaboration between Chris Kroeze and Sarah Grace. Even though Sarah didn't make the finale, she had one of the most unique voices of the season.
