Every Thursday we highlight a problem from a listener. We give our advice and ask other listeners to offer advice. Welcome to the Counseling Corner.
Dear Brain and Courtlin,
My family is a pet loving family.  We've had our indoor cat for nearly 10 years.  Late last year, we decided to add a dog to our household.  It's a smaller breed, and we knew it would take some work to get our cat and the new dog to get a along.  Fast forward several months, and things just aren't getting better.  While the dog continues to get himself accustomed to life with our family, the cat seems to be doing the opposite.  She often stays hidden most of the day.  She is eating and drinking like she should, but a few weeks ago we discovered that she is peeing in different spots in our house.  My husband is furious and wants the cat to go.  I'm looking for some last minute advice on things we can try, because I know that her current bad habits will destroy our house.
Is there anything we can do to try and make this situation work?  We still love our family cat and even devote some special time just for her on a regular basis.  It just isn't working.  If she keeps peeing in the house, I'm afraid my husband is going to take drastic measures.  Has anyone else gone through this, and is there hope?
Thanks,
Kathy
