We told you seven months ago it was bound for Cedar Rapids, and it's time to open!

I took a look inside the new Billy Sims Barbecue restaurant on Wednesday:

The new Cedar Rapids restaurant, originally scheduled to open Thursday has been delayed 24 hours, due to a slight construction delay. Doors will open for the first time this Friday, May 19 at 11 a.m.

When you walk into Billy Sims Barbecue, expect to smell the unmistakable aroma of smoked meat. It's glorious. The food choices are abundant, as you saw from the menu in the video above. There are no less than NINE meats. Everything from my favorites, ribs and pulled pork (hey, I can't pick just one), to beef brisket, chicken, turkey, and polish sausage.

The restaurant's namesake, co-owner and former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL star Billy Sims, will be at the Cedar Rapids restaurant signing autographs Friday and Saturday, May 19 and 20. The Cedar Rapids restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. It's located in the Fountains Shopping Center at the corner of Blairs Ferry and Edgewood Road Northeast. Its physical address is 5300 Fountains Drive, Suite 108.

According to a media release, this is the second Iowa location for Billy Sims Barbecue, following the Burlington restaurant which opened early in 2016. Jeremy Music and Brandon Mosley own both of the Iowa locations and hope to have future Billy Sims Barbecues in Dubuque and Muscatine.

Get ready for the eats... and man oh man do they look good.
