Iowa Man Dies in Two-Vehicle Accident in Delaware County
A Northeast Iowa man has died in a fiery two-vehicle accident in Delaware County.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened Tuesday night (Dec. 11), just before 7 pm on U.S. Highway 20, near the intersection with County Road X-47, near the town of Delaware.
An eastbound van driven by 60-year-old Russell Faust of Dyersville rear-ended a semi that had just entered the eastbound lanes of the highway.
Faust's van then caught fire; Faust was trapped inside. He was pronounced dead from his injuries.
The semi driver, 54-year-old Davis Steger of Colesburg, was not injured.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Delaware County Sheriff, Delaware Police and Fire, the Iowa DNR, and the Iowa DOT.
