The University of Iowa has accepted an invitation to play in the 2015 TaxSlayer Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida! The Hawkeyes will play Tennessee from the SEC Conference. The TaxSlayer Bowl is set for 2:20 p.m. kickoff on Friday, Jan. 2. The game will be televised by ESPN from EverBank Field in Jacksonville, FL.

NASCAR's Most Popular Driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr will handle the coin toss before the game. In years past, he's driven his race car to midfield for the ceremonies. Tune in Jan 2nd to see if he does it again.

This will be Iowa's second appearance in this bowl game. Back in 1983, the Hawkeyes lost to Florida 14-6 in the 1983 Gator Bowl, which was played in sub-freezing temperatures with rain falling throughout the game. Let's hope for warmer temps than what we had in 1983.

The last time Iowa met Tennessee in Football was back in December 1982 in the Peach Bowl where Iowa won 28-22.

Fans interested in purchasing tickets to the game are encouraged to make their purchase through the UI Athletics Ticket Office. By doing so, fans of the Hawkeyes will help the UI Athletics Department meet its obligation to the bowl game by selling the full allotment of tickets. You can make your ticket purchase online HERE. The UI Athletics Ticket Office will also begin accepting orders over the phone at 1-800 IA-HAWKS and over-the-counter at its location in Carver-Hawkeye Arena at 8 a.m. CT, Monday.
