When we were little kids, during the winter my sister, Terri, and I shared a downstairs bedroom in our home in Sigourney. It was on the west side of the house, the same side as the town's water tower and its red flashing beacon. And that's the basis for my favorite Christmas memory.

One night, just before Christmas my sister noticed the light, which flashed every night of course. She asked me if it was Rudolph. I assume she thought he, Santa, and the other reindeer were making a practice run. Honestly, I have no idea what I told her that night but I'll never forget her asking the question. Though she no longer lives in Sigourney either... sis, if you saw a red light last night it very well might have been Rudolph. I love you Terri, and Merry Christmas.
