Some Linn County residents may be a bit startled Wednesday morning when six new outdoor warning sirens are tested for the first time, during the monthly siren activation test. The new sirens are located:

1)West of Central City on Horseshoe Falls Road in Pinicon Ridge Park

2)South of Troy Mills near the intersection of Troy Mills Road and Shore Lane

3)Near the Hitage Sand Ridge Prairie Preserve along Wapsi Ridge Drive

4)North of Western near the intersection of County Road W54 and Walford Road

5)North of Whittier along Whittier Road

6)West of Springville near the intersection of Stone Road and Highway 151

The six new sirens will help protect more than 2,100 Linn Country residents when severe weather arrives again in 2015. Hopefully not any sooner than that...
