The search for 17-year-old Logan Blake has come to a tragic end. The body of the teen was recovered from Cedar Lake just before 4:00 p.m. on July 1.

The teenager was swept into a storm drain near Arthur Elementary School around 7:21 p.m. on June 30. Teams of rescuers and volunteers conducted a search both on land and in and around Cedar Lake for the missing teen.  Blake's body was ultimately found about 75 yards from shore in approximately 3 feet of water.

Another teenager went into the storm sewer drain last night in an attempt to rescue Blake. David Bliss, 17, apparently went through the storm sewer system approximately one and one-half miles from the point of entry to an exit point of the drain pipe that deposited into Cedar Lake.  He then walked to St. Luke’s Hospital, which is only a few blocks away, for medical assistance.  The third teenager involved, who flagged down a passing motorist to call 911, was identified as Jacob Spurrell, 16.

Logan Blake attended Washington High School. Counselors will be available to support the school community on Wednesday, July 2. Students, staff, and community members may visit the school to speak with a counselor starting at 8 a.m.
