It looks like Microsoft had a change of heart!

UPDATE:

After 32 years, Microsoft has learned that Paint still has a lot of fans, so they want customers to know that they are NOT getting rid of the program! According to Consumerist, a rep for Microsoft stated, “MS Paint is here to stay, it will just have a new home soon, in the Windows Store where it will be available for free." I guess nostalgia does mean something after all!

Microsoft has a Windows 10 update coming this fall, and along with bringing new features, it will also get rid of something that's been around for as long as I can remember: Paint.

Paint has been around since the very first version of Windows came out in 1985. I still use Paint on occasion (mostly for editing photos), but when I was kid, I would spend HOURS on paint, making drawings of my friends and setting them as my desktop background. This was also a favorite art project of mine (yes, I did just make this so I could show you an example):

And, Paint isn't the only program that Microsoft wants to do away with. Outlook Express, Reader app, and Reading list are also on the chopping block, added to the “features that are removed or deprecated in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update” list. There's no official date on when these programs will be removed, but enjoy them while you can (Paint 3D is also still available)!
