It's not good news if you enjoy eating salads at this popular fast-food chain.

The Iowa Department of Public Health confirms 15 cases of Cyclospora in the state, also known as Cyclosporiasis, which was found in the restaurant's salads in late June and early July.

If you ate McDonald's salads in that time period, pay attention to these symptoms: frequent watery diarrhea, loss of appetite, sudden/unexplained weight loss, cramping, bloating, and/or increased gas, nausea, fatigue, and low-grade fever.

It could take up to a week for these symptoms to develop after eating a McDonald's salad, so if you consumed one recently, you should get with your health care provider in the near future to be tested for Cyclospora, a disease that has been contaminating fresh produce in both Iowa and Illinois recently.

According to Wikipedia, Cyclosporiasis is "a disease caused by infection with Cyclospora cayetanensis, a pathogenic protozoan transmitted by or feces-contaminated food and water."

For their part, McDonald's is said to be concerned and fully cooperating with the investigation by the Iowa Department of Public Health.
