Marion Intersection Will Soon Feature A Roundabout

Downtown Marion is about to get its first roundabout. The intersection of 7th Avenue and 7th Street in Marion will soon be under construction. Groundbreaking for the $2.9 million project is set for March 24th.

The city of Marion hopes the roundabout will even out traffic on 6th and 7th Avenues, and also make the downtown area more pedestrian friendly. The project will include new streets, sidewalks, trails and utilities as well as new signage. You can check out an artist rendering of what the project will look like when finished HERE.

Construction of the roundabout will be broken down into 6 different stages. Two lanes of traffic will remain open on 7th Avenue throughout the project.
