Marion Awards Contract For New Elementary School

The Marion Independent School District awarded the contract for the new Longfellow Elementary school project to Woodruff Construction of Iowa City. The school will cost roughly $8,845,000 to build. Construction will begin as soon as possible with completion in time for the 2017-18 school year.

The preschool through second-grade school will replace Emerson Elementary, and will be built between 8th and 10th Avenues and 29th and 31st streets.

The new building will feature 18 classrooms, a media center, a combination gymnasium and lunchroom, and kitchen.
