Luke Bryan at Home During Nashville Concert

I obviously did not enjoy Luke Bryan shaking it at all… and of course I don't have about 100 Boomerangs of him…

Luke Bryan‘s Nashville concert on Friday night (May 5) could only have felt more comfortable if he was wearing sweat pants and a Predators jersey.

The singer thrilled for 90 minutes at Bridgestone Arena, but made it look so easy. His rapport with fans as he worked the main stage and cat walk was convincing but not too convincing. The tender moments were honest and the dancing was … well just watch the above Instagram video again and again, we won’t mind.

Danceable country jams bookended the set. “Move” did as the song implies while “Country Girl” closed — is there a better encore song in country music right now. Fans were surprised with Karen Fairchild during “Home Alone Tonight” and a cover of Little Big Town‘s “Girl Crush.” She downed a shot of tequila on stage, which only made perfect sense for a Cinco de Mayo show.

Alabama‘s “Mountain Music” (with Bryan on piano) and Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” were moments to remember. The crowd especially appreciated Bryan’s fiddle player copying the legendary group’s Jeff Cook on fiddle. If it was a tribute to a man just revealed to have Parkinson’s disease it wasn’t forced.

An a cappela version of “Crash My Party” and “Fast” complete with wedding photos of Bryan’s wife slowed the show down, but this was a party otherwise. “Huntin’ Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day” capped a night of No. 1 hits, closing the main set before he returned. On Saturday night he’ll do it all over again, with Brett Eldredge and Adam Craig once again opening his show in Nashville.

In fact Bryan said he’ll return to the venue on Sunday too. The Nashville Predators lost game five of their playoff match against St. Louis while Bryan was playing — something he paid close attention to — so expect to see him cheering the home team on when they return to Music City on Sunday afternoon. This time he’s sure to be wearing gold and blue.
