March 16, 2003 -- A date that will live in infamy for former Iowa basketball player Ricky Davis.

The Cleveland Cavaliers were playing the Utah Jazz at home. The game was in the closing seconds of what would be a blow-out win for Cleveland.

Davis, playing in the NBA with the Cavs at the time, was one rebound away from a triple-double. After receiving an inbound pass at the Cavs' end of the floor, Davis proceeded to lay the ball up off his own rim and catch it in an attempt to get credit for a rebound.

Needless to say, it didn't work. Shots taken at one's own basket do not count as shot attempts, so the play did not count as a rebound.

The incident led to national attention, some personal embarrassment, and a new nickname for Davis -- "Wrong Way Ricky".
