Longtime C.R. Destination for Young People Closes

After 19 years in Cedar Rapids, in two different locations, Planet X has announced their immediate closure.

The announcement came this morning on their Facebook page, which has since been removed. It thanked the community for 19 great years.

Planet X first opened in Cedar Rapids in the former Lindale 6 Theaters (now JoAnn Fabrics) before moving to a standalone building on the 1st Avenue side of Lindale Mall, next to Firestone. The building had previously been home to Let's Dance.

This creates yet another change on the perimeter of Lindale Mall. The Collins Road side has seen the departure of Village Inn, Ruby Tuesday, and the still vacant Pizza Hut building. Is a replacement waiting for the former Planet X building? Time will tell but for now, a lot of families and friends will have terrific memories from 19 years of Planet X.
