A series of issues surrounding a local hotel failing to pay its employees continues to be sorted out.

Choice Hotels, the parent company of the Clarion Hotel in Cedar Rapids, has cut ties with the local franchise and has terminated its contract. The hotel at 525 33rd Ave. SW will no longer be allowed to use the name "Clarion". The Gazette reports that after issues stemming from earlier this week where management was not paying employees, this partnership is dissolving. According to a Choice Hotels spokesperson:

“Termination from our system means the hotel no longer has the right to operate under the Clarion name and must immediately cease identifying itself as a Clarion Hotel.

What does this mean for the future of the hotel formerly known as "Clarion"? We may soon find out, as the United States Department of Labor's investigation into the matter of failed payments is still ongoing.
