The IMCA Deery Brothers Late Model Summer Series brought a stout field of 33 entries to the Dubuque Speedway on Sunday night racing for a $3,000 to win 50 lap main event. Ray Guss Jr. led the first few laps before Ryan Dolan was able to overtake the #58 of Guss. Dolan driving the Rick Dralle owned number 1D was leading when the 12th starting Justin Kay moved into contention. Kay tried a move that ended with Kay sliding to a stop in turn two which forced Kay to restart from the tail of the field. While the battle for the lead was being hotly contested, the all-time leading feature winner on the series, Jeff Aikey was steadily marching to the front after starting 22nd. AIkey closed on Dolan and was able to catch Dolan as the leader’s encountered lapped traffic. Dolan drove a flawless race in holding off Aikey for the win in the very entertaining race. Kay battled all the way back to a very impressive third place finish.
