KHAK’s Teacher of the Week Winner — December 15th

Every week we honor another awesome teacher in the local area with our ‘Teacher of the Week’ award!

Congratulations to Jay Thorpe, a teacher at Taft Middle School in Cedar Rapids! He is this week’s ‘Teacher of the Week!” He was nominated by Danielle Scheuerman, and here’s what she had to say:

"My son had Mr. Thorpe in 6th grade and everyday he would come home smiling and talking about him. Middle school can be a hard transfer and scary, but he made it a great experience. My son is now in 7th grade and we see Mr. Thorpe out and about, and he can still bring a smile to my son's face. We were there for conferences the other night and we stopped to say hi, and again, Mr. Thorpe made him smile. Great guy, we loved him as a teacher and person."

For being an amazing teacher, Jay will be receiving gift cards from Wild Hogs in Walford, Half-Price Books, and Kathy’s Pies!
