Kenny Chesney will be bringing along a very talented younger rising act when he hits the road for his Songs for the Saints 2019 Tour. The country superstar has announced that Caroline Jones will join him on the road as his support act.

Jones is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who released several albums independently before signing with Jimmy Buffett's Mailboat Records, which released her label debut, Bare Feet, in March of 2018. She has toured with Zac Brown Band and spent part of 2018 on the road with Buffett, and it was actually through him that she first met Chesney.

“I met Caroline at the Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season benefit that Jimmy Buffett did last year, and she struck me as being so pure in her approach to the business and so pure in her intention as a songwriter,” Chesney says in a press release. “I wanted to help someone willing to work outside the system, to give them the opportunity to be heard and seen. Caroline is so fresh, so filled with life and so consumed by her music, she seemed like the perfect person because of everything No Shoes Nation is about.”

Jones is also excited about the tour, which kicks off at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky., on April 4. Chesney is focusing on smaller venues than the stadiums he normally plays for the new shows, and he's also performing in some different markets in an effort to take his music directly to his fans, wherever they live.

“Kenny has shown genuine kindness and support to me and my vision for myself as an artist,” Jones states. “He is a songwriter, and a person of integrity and philanthropy, in addition to being one of the greatest live entertainers out there. I am really honored to be a part of his tour and be introduced to No Shoes Nation.”

The Songs for the Saints 2019 will promote Chesney's current album, Songs for the Saints, which he dedicated to his beloved Virgin Islands after Hurricane Irma struck there. Proceeds from the album are going to his Love for Love City charity organization, which he founded in 2017 specifically to address his ongoing hurricane relief efforts..

Chesney's old friend and collaborator, David Lee Murphy, will also be on the bill. The pair scored a No. 1 hit with their collaboration on "Everything's Gonna Be Alright," which also took home Musical Event of the Year honors at the 2018 CMA Awards on Nov. 14.

Chesney says the addition of Jones is in keeping with his overall philosophy of introducing his fans to a wide variety of musicians, citing Grace Potter and Old Dominion among the other younger acts he's taken on the road.  "It’s about mixing things up, giving people all kinds of music," he states. "And this year with David Lee Murphy and Caroline Jones, we’ve got both ends of the spectrum, which I know No Shoes Nation is going to love.”

Tickets for the Songs for the Saints 2019 Tour go on sale Friday (Dec. 7) at 10AM local time.
