Kane Brown's bold Experiment has paid off. The singer's sophomore full-length album debuted at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 album chart.

Brown joins Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean as the only country artists to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2018. The singer is also the first male country artist to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 with a sophomore release in 24 years. The last artist to equal that feat was Tim McGraw when he released Not A Moment Too Soon in March of 1994.

Brown released Experiment on Nov. 9, and it set a new Apple Music record for the largest debut of a country album in the first 24 hours of release, racking up a remarkable  2.5 million streams in one day.

The album's first single is "Lose It," and the 25-year-old singer also previewed "Homesick," "Short Skirt Weather" and "Good as You" online prior to the project's release. "Good as You" is a sweet love song, and the video features footage from Brown's fairytale wedding to his longtime love Katelyn Jae. The couple got married on Oct. 12 at a ceremony in a rural area just outside of Nashville.

One of the standout tracks on the new album is "American Bad Dream," which addresses issues of guns and policing head-on. Brown feels it's an important message despite the potential for controversy.

"After we finished the song, I felt that we wrote it well enough that you could see that I wasn't trying to say anything bad ... just cause awareness. No matter what artist you are, if you mention anything of this it's assumed people are going to give you hell for it," he tells Taste of Country.
