Kacey Musgraves shared a gorgeous version of her song "Slow Burn" at the 2018 CMA Awards. The track comes from her third studio album, Golden Hour.

The song lived up to its name: Musgraves stood on a small circular stage wearing a red velvet dress and strumming an acoustic guitar, as a multi-piece band played softly behind her. She crooned the song with delicate, restrained grace, her voice strong and knowing. A soft-glow camera filter added sparkles and made the dewy performance feel beamed in from a 1970s TV show. Those in front swayed to the music and clapped in approval.

In the hands of someone else, the song could've become sluggish or boring. However, Musgraves' magnetic stage presence and charisma made it an awards show highlight.

Golden Hour dropped in May. The project earned Musgraves Album of the Year at the 2018 CMA Awards; she was the only female nominee in the category this year. In addition to that nomination, Musgraves was up for Female Vocalist of the Year.
