Jordan Bohannon Intentionally Misses Record Breaking Free Throw [VIDEO]
Iowa ended a disappointing season Sunday night with a 77-70 victory over Northwestern. Jordan Bohannon had a big game and scored 25 points. But on this night, he will be remembered for the shot he MISSED.
Bohannon made his 34th consecutive free throw and tied the record held by the late Chris Street. Street died in an automobile accident in 1993. He never had a chance to attempt another free throw after that fatal night.
Bohannon had a chance to beat Street's record late in the second half of Sunday night's game. He got to the line and the arena went silent. Bohannon looked at his family in the stands, and missed the shot...it wasn't even close.
After the game, Bohannon admitted to the Big Ten Network that he missed the shot intentionally. He wanted to keep the record in Street's name. I was working on the broadcast, and I captured the video of his missed shot.
Bohannon told BTN, "That's not my record to have. That record deserves to stay in his name." Here's what Iowa coach Fran McCaffery said after the game.
