John Wayne Still Among America’s Favorite Actors

I've always been aware that John Wayne was born in Iowa.  But I never really understood the star power that Wayne held for so many years.  And according to a new Harris poll, his star power is still going strong to this day.  Americans were asked to name their favorite actor in a recent poll.  Names like Johnny Depp and Bradd Pitt were listed.  So was Tom Hanks and Clint Eastwood.  Denzel Washington came in #1.  But the actor in the #2 spot?  The Duke himself.  After all these year, John Wayne is still getting it done.

Up until a few years ago, I'd never even WATCHED a John Wayne movie.  But several years ago, I had a cousin pass away.  He left me his entire collection of western movies that he loved so much.  One weekend I put in his copy of The Searchers starring Wayne.  I was hooked.  I then watched classics like El Dorado and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.  I now have many Wayne classics in my own blu ray collection.  Amazing.  After all these years, John Wayne can still captivate an audience.
