John Deere & Company announced it will be laying off employees next month in Waterloo and the Quad Cities.

Last month, 120 production employees were told they would be laid off at John Deere Harvester Works Division in East Moline, Illinois. Now according to KWWL, after another quarter of being down in sales (the 10th to be exact) 115 employees will be laid off from the Waterloo Works facility. The Davenport facility is also taking the hit and will lose 30 employees. Layoffs will be determined by seniority and will take effect September 23.

The reasoning for this cut? Experts explain it simply as "adjusting production to meet demand". The demand just isn't there for agricultural equipment right now.

"..We're seeing slower demand, and therefore slower demand or need for production of machinery," said Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey.
