Christmas has come and gone and the clean-up and organizing continues! The real tree in your living room sure did look amazing. But now the needles are falling off and it's time to get that thing out! But where can you take that real tree?

In some communities, trees can be set out on your normal trash pick-up date. In Iowa City, trees can be set out from January 8th through February 2nd. In Marion, trees can be set out through early January. In Cedar Rapids, trees can also be put out curbside. However, they MUST be cut down into 3-foot sections first.

If you miss setting your tree out curbside you still have options available. In Marion, residents can drop them off at the 35th street recycling center. In Cedar Rapids, the Parks and Recreation Department have set up several drop off locations for your live trees. One is at the Sac and Fox trail parking lot, and the other is Prarie Park Fishery.

Flocked trees can't be recycled and are considered to be a garbage item.
