It's been four months since Iowa's DE Drew Ott filed paperwork petitioning for a medical redshirt. At that time, the timetable was mid to late-February before the NCAA would make its decision. Iowa is set to start spring practice Wednesday and the NCAA still hasn't made a decision.

Iowa's Kirk Ferentz is still hoping Ott will be allowed to return to the Hawkeyes’ roster for this fall. Ferentz said Ott will be ready to play football this fall, whether it be for Iowa or in an NFL camp. During a Tuesday press conference, Ferentz said, "I think he’ll be ready in camp. Be ready this summer. He’s working at it really hard. For him, the toughest part is just not knowing. It’s like anything in life when you don’t know where you’re going, what the future is, it’s a tough thing to deal with.”

Kirk says a decision from the NCAA is expected within the next couple weeks. The Hawks would certainly love to have him on the defensive line this fall, as would their fans.
