Meet the 23-year old Iowan who, on a whim, purchased a Powerball ticket last night that turned he and his girlfriend into millionaires.

Bryon Stewart of Onawa, who's a security guard at WinnaVegas Casino and Resort Onawa, purchased three tickets at Casey's General Store at 706 10th Street in Onawa around 7 Wednesday night and paid the extra dollar for the PowerPlay. That was a good move as it doubled his prize to $2 million. The only number he didn't have was the Powerball. Bryon was one of eight $2 million winners around the nation last night. He says he'll share the winnings with his girlfriend, Taylor Kuhlman, and continue working.

Kuhlman told Siouxlandmatters that Stewart read the numbers and that she, "... kept saying, 'Yes, yes,' and by the end I was just like, 'Read the last two numbers!'"

Stewart plans to invest his winnings after paying off some bills and says the two may look for a house. He's looking ahead, saying, "... I’m only 23. $2 million is a lot of money, but it’s not going to get me ‘til I’m 80. I want to make it last.”

Stewart is the second western Iowan to win at least a million dollars in the last week. Joel Dominguez of Sioux City matched all five numbers, but not the Powerball, last Saturday night and won $1 million dollars.

The Iowa Lottery reports that more than $12 million in Powerball tickets were sold in Iowa for last night's drawing. More than $6 million of those were sold Wednesday.
