According to SmartAsset.com, The Iowa State ranks as the 6th best fair in the nation.

Fairs were defined as a large-scale, annual agricultural event with contests, food and fun for the whole family. Only official state fairs or fairs that didn't cater to a specific county or state region were considered.

Iowa came in at #6 in this years ranking. The Iowa State Fair had a record 1,117,398 attended the fair in 2015. Besides all the great food and entertainment, the Iowa State Fair is also know for it's famous "butter cow." Along side the butter cow this year is Star Trek as this year makes the 50th year since the show first aired on TV.

The rest of the top 10 fairs in order are North Dakota, Arizona, Delaware, Washington, Tulsa, Iowa, Oklahoma, Alaska, New Mexico and Nebraska. In case you're wondering, Oklahoma has two state fairs, one in Tulsa and the other in Oklahoma City.
