For the first time since 1993, the Iowa Hawkeyes have swept the #4 Michigan State Spartans. Iowa first knocked off Michigan State, 83-70, Dec 29th at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Michigan State was without their star player, Denzel Valentine, for that game in December.

Valentine was back Thursday night for Michigan State, but it didn't matter as Iowa held leads up to 22 points on Michigan State throughout the game. The Spartans were able to cut the lead to 14 with under 7 minutes to go but Iowa was just too much and goes on to win 76-59.

The last time Iowa swept Michigan State was in 1993, the year Iowa Basketball was rocked by the death of player Chris Street.

Michigan State is 16-2 with both losses coming from the Hawkeyes. Iowa is now 13-3 and 4-0 in the Big Ten tied with Indiana for 1st place.

Iowa's next game is Sunday at 3:30 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena against 13-4 Michigan Wolverines. The game will be televised by BTN.
