We got "bad" news this week at the news our gas prices would be going up as of March 1st.  Yes, the new gas tax increase has many irked.  Maybe this will sooth their rage.  Many of Iowa's highways are one step closer to a higher speed limit.  Yes, you'll pay more for gas, but at least you can drive faster!  A Senate subcommittee has passed a bill that would raise inner state traffic speed limits up to 75 miles per hour.  The measure now heads to full committee for consideration.

Do we really NEED higher speed limits?  Take a drive up or down I-380 to find the answer to that question.  Most people, myself included at times, don't obey the current speed limit of 70 mph.  So now they want to bump it up to 75?  What's next 85 and 90?  I'm OK with an increase in the speed limit, if law enforcement decides to enforce it.  I like going fast.  I like getting places on time.  But not at the risk of endangering my life and the lives of those around me.  Oh, and doesn't speeding lead to poor gas mileage in your car?  Oh well, it's not like the price of gas just jumped 10 cents.
