The Iowa men's basketball team is off to a roaring start in Big 10 play with back-to-back victories over #1 Michigan State (now #5) and #14 Purdue (now #19) and coaches and the media around the nation have noticed. Iowa is now ranked in both the AP and USA Today Coaches Polls that were just released.

Iowa is ranked #19 in the AP Top 25, with Iowa State dropping to #13. Kansas is the new number one ranked team. In the USA Today Coaches Poll, Iowa is #23, while Iowa State is #14. Oklahoma is the top-ranked team in that poll.

Following their come from behind win on the road Saturday, Iowa is just the second Big Ten team in the last 20 years to begin conference play with two victories against ranked opponent. Michigan State did it during the 2009-10 season. Iowa has a chance to go 3-0 in conference play for the first time since the 2002-03 season when they host Nebraska (8-7) Tuesday night at 8 on the Big Ten Network.
