Car seats have been in the vehicles of my family for the past 10 years. Sometimes it can be hard to remember what kind of seat or restraint a child needs in the car. Are you sure your kids are properly restrained?  A woman in Florida was recently arrested for putting her child in the trunk of her car to avoid being ticketed for not have a child seat in the vehicle. It, obviously, didn't work out so well and she was arrested for child endangerment. So, before you take off with the kids in tow, here is the law in the state of Iowa:

  • A child under 1 year old who weighs less than 20 lbs. must be secured in a rear-facing child restraint system.
  • A child under 6 years old must be secured in a safety seat or booster seat. A seat belt alone is not appropriate.
  • Children between 6 years old and 11 years old must be secured in a child restraint system or by a safety belt.
  • All children under 18 years old must wear a seat belt.

Cayleigh is our last child in a booster seat, but all three kids are ALWAYS buckled up when we travel. Make sure yours are too!
