Here we are on the first day of June, but our thoughts are already turning to football with the game times for two major intra-state games announced today.

The pigskin will be flying for the first time in Ames when the UNI Panthers come to town for a matchup under the lights. The September 5th game at Jack Trice Stadium will kickoff at 7 pm. It will air on the Cyclones.tv channel on Mediacom. The South End Zone project should be completed by the night of the Cyclones opener. That increasing Jack Trice's capacity to 61,000. Add a night game and the rivalry against Northern Iowa, and the atmosphere promises to be electric.

The following Saturday, September 12th, Iowa State will play host to Iowa in the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series game. That game kicks off at 3:30 pm and will be televised nationally by Fox-TV. A bit of a strange time but yes, it is a 3:30 Central time start.

The Northern Iowa and Iowa game times are the only ones announced by Iowa State thus far. Iowa now has five game times announced for the upcoming season:

September 12th: 3:30 pm at Iowa State

September 19th: 7 pm versus Pittsburgh

October 10th: 11 am versus Illinois (Homecoming)

October 17th: 11 am at Northwestern

November 14th: 7 pm versus Minnesota
