Iowa defensive lineman Faith Ekakitie wrote on his facebook page that he "feared for his life" when he was stopped by Iowa City police in a park last Wednesday. He was playing the popular game Pokemon Go with headphones in. A decision that nearly cost him everything.

Just ten minutes earlier, a bank had been robbed in Iowa City. Ekakitie matched the description of the subject, so when police drove by the park and saw him there they approached. He failed to hear police orders to stop because of the music in his headphones. Police drew their guns and eventually searched Ekakitie and his backpack. He later wrote the following on his Facebook page.

With all the crazy things happening in our world the past couple of weeks, it is hard to stay silent. I am happy to be alive.

Iowa City police confirm the encounter and say that Ekakitie was stopped because he matched the description of the bank robber. Ekakitie went on to thank police officers for their professional behavior and also encouraged everyone to be more aware of their surroundings.
