The 2016 season kicks off Saturday afternoon in Iowa City against Miami of Ohio and the prognosticators think this one won't be close.

The Red Hawks of Miami of Ohio visit Kinnick Stadium Saturday afternoon and the popular opinion is the visitors won't be greeted warmly. Iowa is currently a 27.5 point favorite in the game that's televised by ESPNU. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:32 p.m.

Iowa is expected to have a great football season and everything points toward a big opening day win, but keep this in mind... The last time Iowa won an opening game by more than 27 points was in 2010 when Iowa beat Eastern Illinois 37-7. Last season the Hawkeyes opened up the season with a 31-14 win over Illinois State. A 17-point win.

Iowa will face in-state rival Iowa State in week two of the college football season. Look for Iowa to take care of business Saturday but not run Miami (Ohio) out of Kinnick Stadium.

My prediction. Iowa 34 Miami (Ohio) 17
