Are you ready for the food, fun and, of course, fireworks this Independence Day? Whether you are hanging out at home or heading out to watch some fireworks, it's important to take safety precautions to ensure your festivities go off successfully. Here are some tips to follow to keep you safe this holiday. These tips may be obvious to some, but it doesn't hurt to throw some reminders out there!

For those of you who are setting fireworks off at home:

*Remember, fireworks are still illegal in the State of Iowa. While the bill legalizing retail fireworks did get approved by the Iowa Senate, it was not approved by the Iowa General Assembly.*

1. Keep fireworks away from small children
2. Keep a hose or a supply of water handy, just in case!
3. Never attempt to relight a "dud"
4. Wear protective eyewear if you're lighting the fireworks
5. Store fireworks in a cool, dry place away from children and pets
6. Never point fireworks at people, animals, structures, or flammable objects

If you're doing some backyard grilling:

1. Never leave a barbecue grill unsupervised
2. Keep the grill in an open area and away from hanging tree branches or where anything could catch fire.
3.Use long-handled tools to keep from getting your hands toasty!

Sun and Heat Safety
Let's be serious, you're most likely going to want to have a few cold brewskis on your day off, so just remember:

1. Be sure to stay hydrated! Drink water regularly, even if you're not thirsty.

And since you're going to be doing a lot of outdoor activities...
2. Be sure to wear sunglasses and some SPF to prevent from getting burned!

Before celebrations begin, 7G Distributing reminds adults 21 and older to make a plan to make it home whenever alcohol is involved. Here are additional tips for safe celebrations during the holiday:

1. Buckle up. Make sure everyone wears a seat belt on the road or a life jacket on the water.
2. Be an attentive driver. Always be in control and aware of those around you.
3. Don’t speed. Resist the urge to speed by making sure there’s plenty of time to reach your destination.
4. Drink responsibly. Adults 21 and older who choose to drink should make responsible choices about when, where and how much.

7G Distributing is committed to keeping our nation’s roadways and waterways safe.

The best way to insure things are done safely is to leave it to the professionals. The Thomas Dostal and Developers Freedom Festival will have pro's running the show to make sure the fireworks go off with the bangs that they are supposed to. Also at the concert you'll see music pro's such as Eric Paslay, A Thousand Horses, Natalie Stovall And The Drive and much more! So, raise you're drink up high and cheers to America's Independence Day! Have a fun and safe holiday!
